Fire in the Skies
If you'd like to know where the most beautiful place on Earth is, I believe I have the answer. Colorado is glorious. It quite literally takes my breath away. I grew up here, but I didn't realize just how lucky I was until I moved away and didn't have the same beauty surrounding me every day. I moved back to Colorado just over a year ago, and I haven't looked back. Like, at all. There have been zero regrets. Not only am I enjoying my beautiful home state, but I'm enjoying the career I've decided to pursue. And honestly, is it really a job when you love what you do so much that it doesn't feel like work? I almost feel like I'm cheating to be able to do this every day.
Nicole and Aaron were my May engagement shoot contest winners. When deciding where to shoot, they suggested Echo Lake Park up by Mt. Evans. Even though I'd had a long week and the area was a bit of a longer drive outside of Denver, I was up for the adventure. I mean, this is why I came back to Colorado, to get outside often and to take photos of passionate people and landscapes. We met around 6pm, and as the evening progressed, the landscape around us changed SO much. It started as a cheery and sunny and sparkling place. Then the sky began to darken and the drama swept in as a storm made its way towards us. Then, just as the sun was about to set for the night, it peaked through the clouds just as they tore open to release the rain. What resulted was one of the most breath-taking visions I've seen in CO. And that's truly saying something as I feel lucky to have seen many here. We played in the rain, and as it started to come down harder, we ran back to our cars, laughing the whole way. When all was done and Nicole and Aaron turned around to go home, I sat for a moment to take it all in. A rainbow appeared, and I decided to stand outside and just breath in the air and take in the glory. Without sounding too cheesy, it was a moment I will never forget. I was right where I was meant to be in that moment. A feeling of true peace and calm washed over me. If I can find these little moments in this spectacular state of mine, I know I will always be ok and I will always be home.
Thanks Nicole and Aaron for the incredible suggestion and for absolutely rocking your engagement shoot. I was thrilled to join you in our gorgeous Rocky Mountains for some images that will stay top of mind forever!
