A Love Like This

If only we could all have a love like this….

Covid hit in March and my business, like others, took a hit. Most of my weddings were postponed until 2021. But, I was so lucky to have a few weddings before we hunkered down in quarantine. I’m revisiting this one, today!

I met Alysia in college. We were both a part of a professional fraternity for all things film called DKA. We didn’t see each other after graduation until we bumped into each other at Hunter and Allison’s wedding in 2018. When Alysia and Dan got engaged, she looked me up and asked if I’d come photograph their special day. Of course I said yes! Despite not being in California anymore, I’m enjoying going back for the occasional wedding among other things. The Bay Area, in particular, is always a treat to visit.

Alysia and Dan met through an online dating app. They had a lot in common, and they hit it off right away. After dating for a couple of years, Dan proposed to Alysia in an EPIC way. He had an entire day of festivities planned for her that took her on a journey through San Francisco. It was a scavenger hunt with one clue leading to the next. To guide Alysia through the city, Dan built an app that provided clues upon arriving at each location. Yes folks, you heard that right, her soon-to-be fiancé built an app for her phone. This proposal took a lot of planning. The app took Alysia to some of her favorite places throughout the city, and around every corner, she was surprised by various friends and family who joined in. She arrived at the last clue which told her to return to the home she and Dan shared. Once she arrived there, she found Dan in the backyard waiting for her. With her close family and friends watching, he asked her to marry him. She said yes, because, well, DUH!

I loved being at Dan and Alysia’s wedding. They knew exactly what they wanted their day to look like. Alysia wore a gorgeous custom-made red dress, and Dan had a hand tailored suit that made him look super polished. They enjoyed their ceremony and reception at the University Club of San Francisco which had so many picture-perfect nooks and crannies to take advantage of throughout.

The San Francisco skyline created the perfect backdrop for a perfect day. There were incredible speeches and stellar dance moves. As the day came to an end, no one was really ready to call it quits. There was just so much joy and celebration still to be shared. It was obvious that Alysia and Dan are loved by many. Everyone at their wedding was beyond excited to see the duo get married. I’m always so grateful to bear witness to weddings like this!

Alysia and Dan, thank you for having me, and mazel tov! I’m hoping to find myself at weddings such as this once again, but until Covid goes away… one can dream!

Xoxo, Savannah
